The WSL, Redis and Stunnel software packages must be installed and configured correctly on the local device.Īs Redis is not officially built for the Windows system, a tool is needed to bridge the gap between Redis and Windows. An instance of Redis for an ObjectRocket’s account must be setup in the ObjectRocket Mission Control panel, shown in the following image:.This tutorial will provide explanations and examples on how to connect to the Redis server on ObjectRocket using WSL. As Redis is not designed for Windows, the Windows Subsystem for Linux allows for increased compatibility between the two programs. WSL allows for running native Linux command-line tools alongside traditional Windows applications. WSL is an optional feature that can be enabled via the Windows Features dialog. This configuration will become part of my standard setup on my SSH servers.Windows Subsystem for Linux, typically referred to as WSL, is a newer compatibility layer designed to run Linux binary executable files on Windows 10 operating systems and servers. In this case creating an SSL connection over the standard https port allows you to SSH out even when the standard SSH port is blocked. Stunnel can be used to encrypt a wide range of services. Your encrypted SSH connections are now wrapped in an encrypted SSL connection using port 443. Now when you connect to your local machine on port 2200 it will make a connection to the remote IP on port 443, create a secure SSL connection, and connect to port 22 on the other end. With the stunnel service now running on both the server and the client we’re ready to make the secure connection. Enable the service (as above) in the /etc/default/stunnel4 and then start the service. With the config file and certificate in place we’re ready to enable stunnel and start the service. Use the example below to populate the /etc/stunnel/nf on your client. We’ll need to create a similar configuration file, only this time we’ll change the accept and connect sections. pem file we generated in the Server Side Instructions and save it to the same location, /etc/stunnel/stunnel.pem. The client configuration also needs the same SSL certificate that we generated above. The rest of these instructions are done on the local machine.Īs was done on the server, we’ll need to install the stunnel package: You can verify that stunnel is now listening by using the netstat command: Change the ENABLED line from 0 to 1.įinally, we can start the service and move on to the client configuration: In order to start the stunnel service we’ll need to activate it in /etc/default/stunnel4. In this case stunnel will listen on the public_ip on port 443 (https) and redirect connections there back to localhost on 22 (ssh). The above configuration tells stunnel where to find the certificate we generated and where to accept and forward connections. Create a new file, /etc/stunnel/nf and copy in the contents below: We’ll create a simple config file to meet the needs of using SSH over SSL. Openssl req -new -key stunnel.key -x509 -days 1000 -out stunnel.crtĬat stunnel.crt stunnel.key > stunnel.pemĬonfigure stunnel to tunnel 443 (https) to 22 (ssh):īy default stunnel doesn’t provide any config files. Once the package is installed we’ll need to configure stunnel with an SSL certificate and a config file. In this case I’m running Ubuntu Server and Ubuntu Desktop for the client.įirst off we’ll need to install the stunnel package: The second half is done on the local machine. The first half is done on the remote SSH server. In this post I’ll outline how to configure stunnel on an SSH server to allow encrypted SSH connections over port 443 (https). Have you ever found yourself behind a restrictive firewall that only allows outbound http(s) traffic, but you need to SSH out? Perhaps you’ve tried running SSH on port 443 (https) but those connections have been denied as well.

If I only wanted to lop off the beginning or ending it would be enough. If you wanted to remove a block of commercials for example, you would have to select the whole section before, lock it down, select the whole section after, lock it down, and then save it. I realize that sounds like it is the same thing but it's really not. The program imports videos via the regular File > Open dialog, or via drag and drop. The open your encoded audio file and select 'Include all tracks from the new file'. Then use Handbrake or similar to re-encode the audio file (if mp4 file, encode as AAC.) Then open the extracted video stream in LosslessCut. First export each track as individual files. I tried using VidCutter as it gets a lot of good reviews but I can't seem to figure out a way to remove sections from the middle of a video (like commercials), it only seems to let you select the sections you want to KEEP. LosslessCut is a simple open-source video editor which enables cutting and trimming videos without any loss of quality. Re-encode only the audio track, keeping the lossless video track. Then you just save it and it saves super fast because it doesn't re-code the video. Free video editing software for Windows that can cut (trim) and extract video files such as AVI, MKV, and MP4. With this program you can make sure you get the perfect clip, removing everything you dont want including every last minute detail and frame that doesnt belong. Machete is great because it's pretty easy to trim sections and cut and paste and move things around and you can preview it in real time. 'LosslessCut is based on Chromium and uses the HTML5 video player, not all ffmpeg supported formats will be supported directly' this means it does not support X265/HEVC or fairly common containers like. LosslessCut is a video editing tool focused on frame trimming to remove all those parts of the footage that are useless or that you want to omit from the final video. Machete can edit video and audio files in AVI, FLV, WMV, MKV, WebM, MP4, 3GP, 3G2, MOV, WMA, MP3 and WAV formats and I would like one that can do the same if possible. LosslessCut does its job as promised, making it possible for you to remove parts of a video you dont need, such as intros, trailers, advertisements, or credits. On Windows I use paid program called Machete. Looking for recommendations for a simple video editor that can cut and trim videos without re-encoding. I don’t want a bunch of 3rd party apps who profit off my information and behavior. That’s why I want more from this calculator app. Really? Get your basic functions modernized please Apple!!!!!!! Surely some creative millennials can accomplish this if you give them enough trophies and breaks/ extensions/ delays/ time off for therapy/ whatever it takes!!!!Īlso just want to add that I want everything through iOS. Swipe all of your fingers at once to switch between your open full-screen apps. Swipe left and right to switch between your full screen apps. You can switch apps to full-screen view from their View menus or by pressing Ctrl + Command + F. This is a basic function that maybe you all should focus on rather than any gimmicky thing you might be thinking of/ working on for the future. This gesture only works if you have two or more apps open in full-screen view. Please create a more modern version that shows every addition/ subtraction/ action being performed- please show the entire input! And please allow a backspace/ delete option for if you want to change what you just entered- that way if you press the wrong button you don’t have to start your entire problem over from the beginning. If you hit one wrong number you have to start the entire problem over again. Maybe this will help me study more hey I heard the review about don’t let your kids use this app, well whoever wrote that stop worrying a lot because what could possibly happen on this calculator? It’s not like someone’s going to stock your child, everyone you need to let your kids use this app so they can study more, and whoever wrote that review y’all are stupid Now for the bad things about this horrible app, when I press any of the buttons to solve the math problem and gave me the same number that I wrote down on the calculator, and then it keeps on solving it with the same number that I multiplied or did something by, you guys need to update your new app because this app is going to get a one star review if you don’t fix it hi guys this is me the person who wrote a bad review about this app, I would just like to say sorry because it turns out that this app is kind of useful when you need it, thanks to Apple now we have a carefree app that can help us do you math, Before I tell you anything, I would just like to say a quick thank you to Apple for creating notes. Apple’s Weather app has been enhanced in iOS 15 with maps for air quality and precipitation, weather charts, animated backgrounds, and notifications for rain or snow. If you would prefer to always see the weather for your home city (as a fixed location) rather than to see the weather for your current location, then add your home city in the Weather app by tapping on the "+" sign at the bottom-right of the locations list and then select it using the Watch app via the same steps detailed above (instead of Current Location).Apparently, I thought this app would be useful for once, but it looks like calculator is dropping down to a one star review. Locations within the list can also be re-ordered by touching and holding them, then dragging them up or down, as desired. On your iPhone, open the Weather app > swipe left on Cupertino > tap on Trash / Delete. The weather app on Apple Watch (including the watch face complication) offers the option to show weather information for each of the locations that has been selected in the Weather app on your iPhone. On your iPhone, in the Watch app, go to: My Watch (tab) > Weather > Default City > select Current Location. To have the Weather app complication show the weather for your current location, follow these steps: :6FAAD991 884C2400 mov byte ptr, cl Select Game.exe > Start capturing data Here are some of the other packet building routines that I found using the above search method:ĭ2Client.dll - Routine used to build ALL packets with a length of 3 bytes! :6FAAD3D3 C64424046C mov, 6C Find Text > Type: call 6FAAD850 > Find Next :6FAAD3BC 8B15F079BA6F mov edx, dword ptr :6FAAD3B4 8B3514DFB66F mov esi, dword ptr * Reference To: KERNE元2.GetTickCount, Ord:0186h The packet type for the client update is 0圆C and its routine can be found here in the D2Client.dll: If SoftICE pops up without you doing anything after setting a breakpoint at 6FC017BE, chances are your client is sending an auto-update out, which is on a timer! 6FC017BE is a very useful address to us! :-P For every action that you do in-game that sends ANY data what-so-ever to others SoftICE will pop up at 6FC017BE and you can view that packet in and length of that packet in AL or BL. Here are some that are more commonly used: There are several ways to locate WSOCK32 send() functions within a game. So fair warning, if you aren't the type of person who can spend hours and hours, possibly even months, in game code trying to understand how it works you should bail out now! Making packet senders aren't for you! IE: Open Source or some other game hacker released a packet reference to decrypted data from his/her own efforts. The principles used in this tutorial can help aid you in your quest, but only to a certain degree most of the time locating packet building processes before they are encrypted require alot of time tracing AND guessing, especially if there isn't any documentation on the game code. It's just a matter of extra backtracing and stepping. Each game is different on how things are done, but because a packet is generated using an encryption technique within the game code it CAN be found and CAN be reversed. I'm frequently asked how to decrypt packet data that is encrypted on some of these odd ball games, such as Prince of Qin Online and it's frustrating for me to give an answer to this question because of all the unknowns. This game does not use encrypted data packets for send(), in-game! Keep this in mind if you plan to apply this tutorial to games that are using encrypted packets in-game. This tutorial will be very similiar to my previous one, but with a few different twists because the programmers of the new V1.10 patch have updated quite a few things in the packeting send()'ing process! Nothing that we can't overcome though! -) Tools used: SoftICE, WDASM, DHack, Notepad, WPE Pro and a brain!įirst, this is the second tutorial I've written covering the topic of "Packet DASM" using Diablo II LoD as our game of choice to reverse engineer. Main focus of this tutorial: To create a packet sender for Diablo II LoD V1.10 *AND* hopefully give you (The reader) a better understanding of what Packet DASM is and how to write your very own packet sender for D2 or other gaming titles! Type of tutorial: Advanced FYI (For Your Information) Cast a HL and Shock on yourself to top up with a WoG between each eye explosion, pop your defensive if you’re scared. Just take it easy here, kill one and beacon yourself. BElf might be back up by the end of this mage if you need it too. Wings should be up for the fifth wave, HoJ the mage immediately after the first cast and pop drums, TE the guy when he starts casting Fan, and just make sure you don’t get Mana Stung by the other Arbalest. You can BoP someone who’s being fixated if you need to. Sometimes I bubbled here and dropped a LOH on a party member or SAC, just depends on who gets fixated and targeted by blasts. You can TE the mob with higher HP that’s casting Fan of Knives the second time and just AM the other mob’s cast on the party. I popped HA here usually just to keep everyone topped while the mobs were fixated. The fourth wave is the hardest: try to have all 3 of the mobs clumped so that when both guys start Fan of Knivesing you can Blinding all 3 mobs at the same time. I honestly just face tanked with SOTR the fixate when it was only one mob up because it meant the AIs weren’t running around wasting uptime. Just TE the add any time it starts to cast Knives. You should be able to get it down before it becomes unmanageable. With the third wave, I BElf’d the first stack at the end of the second cast and TE’d the other add as soon as it started casting Fan of Knives. Dump damage into it and you should have it down before it casts again. HoJ the mage at the end of the second cast and immediately Turn Evil the arbalest before it jumps just to get it out of the picture. Wings on pull and just dumpster damage into the first arbalest. Hammer/Blinding/Awakening/HA/Faith is what I ran. You can use BFA 3% int scrolls, and since you don’t usually die you don’t need too many so they help. Didn’t use any special gear or try to game it at all. I did it in 15 tries on HPal yesterday, got it the second time I got to the final phase. Sure, lots of people are doing it for the mount, a lot of people are doing it for specific transmog. The OP isn't about getting the mount either. Just take the data, give a few bonuses to people who transfer and acknowledgement of their prior win, and then let them have at it in the galaxy. Once again, on paper, this seems like something too easy to do to mess up. One of the most advertised features was the ability to bring over data from a Beyond Earth game and then use it for the Starships battle. This game was designed not for use on the PC but, rather, for tablets, and the developers couldn't be bothered enough to make the simple programming requirements to turn it into a proper PC game. Before the title is even reached, the first flaw can be seen. The bad choices become apparent as soon as the game is simply booted up, as it does not have an option to go full-screen. Developed by Firaxis Games and published by 2K, Starships is just… wrong. It got all ruined because of the worst series of design flaws possible, though. The prospect of taking it to the stars, allowing for the player to no longer be confined by planetary design but to, rather, reach to the corners of the galaxy, should have been wonderful - exploring many strange new worlds and solar systems across a massive galaxy teeming with chances for unique design… Even beyond that, Sid Meier has had two forays into the science fiction genre, with both Sid Meier's Alpha Centurai and the recently released Beyond Earth. Why wouldn't it? Civilization is practically the definition of the turn-based strategy game, and the fear of Ghandi's nuclear arsenal is a near-universal fear held by all that have played his games. Article taken from one thinks of Sid Meier, the famous Civilization series comes to mind, first and foremost. I've also reached out to Aspyr Meda directly about it. I've reached out to the publisher to see if they have anything to say about what is happening, although they never replied to my initial email asking about the new DLC. It's a shame, as it shows even though they're selling it clearly as supported, seemingly no one at Firaxis / 2K / Aspyr is even testing either Linux or macOS now. You can skip the 2K Launcher on Linux with Proton by adding this as a launch argument for the game on Steam:Įval $( echo "%command%" | sed "s/2KLauncher\/LauncherPatcher.exe'.*/Base\/Binaries\/Win64Steam\/CivilizationVI.exe'/" ) Here though, some users report the 2K Launcher doesn't work, but for me it was fine. Even for people on macOS who have managed workarounds, some are reporting other major problems like Civ Vi eating all their RAM.Īt least for Linux users, a workaround is to use Proton on it to run the Windows version. However, the macOS and Linux support topics on Steam are filling up with people reporting the game is now broken or has major issues on these platforms.įor the Linux version, it seems the update actually downgraded the game to a much older version "1.0.1.104" (I was able to use an old workaround - see the bottom, to get it to launch) with the latest being 1.0.12.9. The store page on Steam still shows both as clearly supported though, and the new Leader Pass indicates both are supported platforms too. The Linux and macOS versions were done by Aspyr Media, who don't really do ports any more. Firaxis Games recently launched their new Leader Pass for Sid Meier's Civilization VI, and it seems they broke it on both macOS and Linux. I wasn’t convinced by the colour description vs image of swatch at all and rightly so. On the few occasions that I did set it (out of pure habit), I found that it looked somewhat dry, especially as the day wore on, and you can tell that you’re wearing makeup (which I’ve found has started to happen even with my Urban Decay Naked Skin which I’ve ALWAYS set).įinding the right colour was a tad difficult as I was going off online, animated swatches (as opposed to ‘on the skin’ swatches). It stays put all day without moving or creasing. Personally, for me, I don’t have to set this concealer and that doesn’t ever really happen. And when I say matte, I don’t mean a dry or chalky matte. It’s extremely light and sets quickly to a soft yet smooth, matte finish that is completely flawless. You might perceive that something with such full coverage, that it’s texture surely must be very thick and heavy. One thing I love about the Tarte Shape Tape Contour Concealer is that it maintains it’s ridiculous level of coverage throughout, from the moment I place it onto the skin and begin to blend it out (preferably with my ring finger and finished off with a beauty blender – many, including the aforementioned, will lose a tiny bit of it’s coverage at this point) to the moment I take it off my face at the end of the day – a good at least 8 hours after. They, however, have just been ‘owned’ by the Tarte Shape Tape Contour Concealer. Those who are familiar with these will know that both have a good level of coverage and are pretty decent in their overall offering which is why I’ve used them consistently over the years. I’ve been an avid user of the Urban Decay Naked Skin Weightless Complete Coverage Concealer (Light for under my eyes and Medium-Light Neutral for my face), and before that, the Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer (Custard for under my eyes and Macadamia/Ginger for my face). It’s always easier to start off with less product and build up, rather than the other way round (there’s just no going back and frankly I don’t want to waste such precious product).Ĭoverage is unrivalled full-stop. I tend to ‘dab’ the wand onto the back of my hand (using it as a palette to mix the colours) and pick up the product from there. Trust me, a little goes a very long way with this concealer. That’s far too much product, for me personally. Many people like it but I’m rather indifferent to it as I don’t apply it straight to the face. The packaging is rather chunky compared to its peers but that’s because it houses the fattest doe-foot wand applicator I’ve ever come across. If there was ever a product I’ve wanted to get my hands on so desperately (aside from the Master palette by Mario and the Jaclyn Hill Champagne Collection Face Palette – and I totally blame YouTube – #youtubemademedoit), it’s this. It’s not like I live anywhere remotely near an ULTA store so I’ve had to stalk the Tarte website sporadically (but have never been quite fast enough – you snooze, you lose right?). Finally, finally, FINALLY managed to get my hands on the Tarte Shape Tape Contour Concealer after being out of stock consistently for absolute months since it’s launch last year. Stop At: Mozartplatz, Mozartpl., 5020 Salzburg, Austria And while the freemiumization of a franchise means it will be free, it does not necessarily mean it will be a better experience. This is a typical itinerary for this product While Virtual City Playground is certainly a competent freemium offering, players of the original game will likely be put off by the severe changes that were made to the core mechanics and gameplay. There is a ton more I would love to learn about the history of the making of these cities now, but that falls outside the scope of this book so now I am hoping for a volume 2 that might dive into such things. It would have been cool to see more insights from developers on a greater amount of the included games and maybe concept art of the city to accompany the stylized renditions. While I have enjoyed my read of Virtual Cities, even the cities from games I don’t play, the whole experience has left me with a few thoughts. The technology and genre of each title have likely played into this viewpoint for sure, but it has been fun to go back and take a second look. A lot of these locations have always been little more than backdrops to me, while others I had no problem as seeing as living places. After reading through a selection of entries all I wanted to do was go and roam the streets of that particular location and take it in from a new perspective I hadn’t ever considered before. A number of these design insights segments have information from their original developers, which is always a welcome read! What I personally think Virtual Cities does best with its selection of cities is make you want to go and visit them. Command & Conquer: Red Alert 3 Complete Collectionįollowing each description is a section on design insights, explaining some of the concepts behind what makes these cities work and function within their respective games. The entries for City 17, Clock Town, Tarsonis, and The Citadel were my first stops, with each offering new takes on familiar locations! Each of the in-universe descriptions is accompanied by Maria Kallikaki’s illustrations to further help convey the information on hand. The full list of cities is covered in the table of contents at the start of the book allowing readers to dive right into their personal favorites. There is such a great range of games covered, spanning 35 years of gaming history from the iconic ZX Spectrum up to the modern-day of Xbox One, PS4, and Switch. Then there are the takes on Raccoon City and Silent Hill which offer a completely unique spin compared to some of the other entries, that being a post-apocalyptic perspective. Virtual City Playground is completely off kilter from the original game.īoth of them have a fun story given to them thanks to Dimopoulos’ writing. While this approach doesn’t seem too complicated for cities like Whiterun from The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim (which has tons of flushed out in-game lore and is fully explorable to players), covering a beat-em-up city like Metro City from Final Fight or racing backdrop Olympic City from Need For Speed Underground are a different story. Each of the 45 cities covered throughout the book is described from an in-universe perspective. If you were lucky enough to get into the crowd-funded version you are getting something that looks altogether different and I am jealous of you all! The information contained within the pages of Virtual Cities is conveyed in an interesting way and one I didn’t think would come off as good as it did. Just a side note here, my impressions are all based upon the retail version of Virtual Cities that is available as of November 10, 2020. Compared to some other hardcover books I have bought recently, Virtual Cities feels very premium, which is exactly how I like all of my video game related items! Cyber Manhunt For this hardcover release, the 214 pages have a good thickness and feel with a strong binding holding it all together. A short bio for Dimopoulos and Kallikaki can be found just beneath this, giving us insight into the minds that brought this book to life. Moving on to the back cover we have a number of illustrations of the cities contained within the book and a nice outline of what it is about. As most of you all hopefully know by now, I love it when a cover gives an excellent representation of what it contains inside and Virtual Cities does exactly that! Virtual City Playground HD proves that not every game should go freemium. The subtext for this being a video game atlas is also proudly displayed along with author Konstantinos Dimopoulos’ name. Yes I know, you aren’t supposed to judge a book by its cover, but when it looks good I want to take a minute to appreciate it! The base cover is pure white and accented with a red and black overhead map with the Virtual Cities title taking center stage.
